Sunraj Electric Co is right in the middle of the madness at Lohar Chawl. We are on the first floor of the Kerawala Building, specifically at 61 Mangaladas Road. If you’ve ever been to this part of Mumbai, you know it’s packed with shops selling every wire and bulb you can imagine. Our building is old, with those thick walls and a staircase that’s seen better days. It's a bit of a climb, but it’s home for us. The ground floor is always crowded with delivery guys and carts, so we usually hear the shouting and the horns all day long. Inside our space, there’s stock everywhere. It’s hard to keep things perfectly neat when new boxes are arriving every morning. We’ve been here long enough that we know most of the other shopkeepers on Mangaladas Road. We share news about the market and complain about the traffic over small cups of chai. It’s a busy life, and we don’t really have time for fancy decorations. The walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but there’s always something more urgent to do. We just keep track of the inventory and make sure we have what people are looking for. It’s a lot of manual counting and checking lists. It’s a bit chaotic, but that’s just how Lohar Chawl operates, and we wouldn’t really know what to do with a quiet office anyway.
