We are sitting right on Juhu Beach at number 39. If you know Mumbai, you know how Juhu gets on the weekends. It is absolutely packed with people and the air smells like the sea and street food. Our place has been here through many monsoons and high tides. The sand is the biggest thing we deal with every day. It gets into the carpets, the lobby, and even the elevators no matter how much we clean. But that is just part of being this close to the water. We have a lot of windows so you can see the ocean, though they get blurry from the salt spray pretty quickly. We have a staff that has seen everything. They aren't robots; they are people who have worked here for years. We don't have a fancy mission statement written on the wall. We just try to keep the rooms ready and the water running. Sometimes the city noise is a lot, with the planes taking off nearby and the crowds shouting on the sand. But when the sun goes down, it’s a pretty decent place to be. We are just a hotel that has been part of the Juhu skyline for a long time. We take things as they come and try to keep a smile on our faces. The salt in the air eventually rusts almost everything, so we are constantly painting or fixing some metal part of the building.
