Our office is tucked away on Tatya Gharpure Path in Swami Samarth Nagar. It’s an old part of Mumbai, down in the 400 004 zip code. The streets are a bit cramped, and it’s a lot of old buildings and small businesses all packed together. We are at numbers 71 and 74/B. It’s not the kind of place people expect when they hear our name, as it’s quite a modest setup. We handle a lot of the administrative side of things here. There are always piles of ledgers and documents that need sorting. The rooms have high ceilings but it gets quite humid in the rainy season. We have a small staff who have been with us for years. We know the local postman and the people running the shops on the ground floor. It’s a very local vibe. We don’t have a flashy lobby or fancy furniture. It’s mostly just wooden desks and old fans spinning overhead. Sometimes we have meetings that go on for hours, and the room gets stuffy, so we open the windows to let in the city noise. Working here feels very connected to the history of Mumbai. We just do our bit to keep everything running behind the scenes for The Indian Hotels Company Limited. It’s a lot of steady, quiet work in a busy, loud city. We like the familiarity of this neighborhood and how everyone knows everyone else. It’s a decent place.
