Suey The Chinese Kitchen

The shop is right there at Shop No 12, on the ground floor of Piroza Mansion. If you know Grant Road, you know it gets really crowded, especially being opposite the railway station. We see people rushing in and out all day long. Suey The Chinese Kitchen has been in this spot for a while now. It is a busy corner of Mumbai - 400007. The building itself has that old Mumbai feel to it. Sometimes the rain gets quite heavy around Grant Road and we just watch the water pile up on the street. Being on the ground floor means we see everything. The noise from the station is constant, the whistles and the announcements never really stop. It’s just how it is here. Most days start early with setting things up. We don't have much space, but we make it work. The address is pretty straightforward for anyone taking the train. You just walk out and there we are. It is not a fancy place, just a regular kitchen doing its thing every day. We spend a lot of time cleaning and getting the ingredients ready before the lunchtime rush hits. It gets hot in the kitchen, especially in the summer months, but that's part of the job in this city. You get used to the pace of Grant Road after a few weeks of working here. It is a tough spot but we keep at it day after day.
