Subhash Medical & General Store

Subhash Medical & General Store is right in the Badrikeshwar Building on Ghole Road. We are at Survey No 1187/26, just opposite the Hindi Vidya Bhavan School. It’s a busy spot, especially when school lets out. I’ve been behind this counter for years now. We stock the usual stuff, medicines and things people need for their homes. The shelves are pretty packed because I try to keep whatever people might ask for. Sometimes I can't find something right away and have to look through the back. It’s a bit of a maze back there with all the boxes. My family helps out with the shifts. We know most of the people who walk in by their names because they live in the apartments nearby. The morning is usually quiet, then it picks up around noon. Marine Drive and Ghole Road can get quite noisy with the cars. The building is older, so it has that specific smell of stone and dust. I keep a ledger for everything. It's not a supermarket, just a local store where you can grab what you forgot to buy earlier. Sometimes the kids from the school come in for sweets or pens. We stay open pretty late most days. It’s just what we do. I like the routine of opening up early and setting out the displays. It feels good to be part of the street. It is a simple life but it keeps us going.
