Stedfast

Stedfast is located on the third floor of Akbarali Mansion, right on Kika Street. Being near the police chowky is actually pretty helpful for giving people directions, since everyone knows where that is. The climb up to the third floor is a bit steep, especially if we are carrying anything heavy, but it’s just part of the daily routine. The building itself is quite old, with high ceilings and heavy doors that creak every time they open. Kika Street is a very narrow place, usually filled with handcarts and people moving goods back and forth. You can hear all the shouting and the clatter of the street all the way up here, which gives the place a lot of energy. We spend our time managing the office and keeping track of our supplies. It gets a bit dusty with all the old wood and stone around us, so we spend a bit of time every morning just tidying up. We have a small kitchen area where we make tea, which is probably the most used part of the office. The light comes in through these large windows, but the view is mostly just the building across the way. It’s a busy, cramped part of the city, but we’ve been here long enough that it feels like home. We just keep our heads down and get through the list of things to do without worrying about much else.
