Starfish Kids Salon

So we are over here in the Shativanam Building on Manuel Gonsalves Road. It is easy to find if you know where the Lemon Grass Restaurant is in Bandra West. Most days it gets pretty loud in here because kids are kids and they do not always want to sit still in the chairs. We have these chairs shaped like little cars and things which helps a bit. The staff here is used to the crying and the moving around. We spend a lot of time cleaning up hair from the floor and making sure the toys are back in the bins. Bandra is a busy place so people are always dropping in while they are out doing errands. We have been at Shop Number 6 for a while now. Sometimes the mirrors get fingerprints on them five minutes after we wipe them down. That is just how it goes with a kids' place. We keep some cartoons running on the screens to distract them. It is not a fancy corporate office or anything like that. It is just a regular shop where we cut hair for children and try to make sure they do not leave with a lopsided look even if they were jumping the whole time. The street outside is usually packed with cars. We see the same faces coming back as the kids grow up. It feels like a small neighborhood spot even though Mumbai is huge. We just open the doors, sweep the floor, and get started.
