Sonik Engineering

The shop is in Flat 693 in Jaisingh Society, over in Vikhroli East. It is not a big fancy place, just where we do the work every day. Most days it is quite loud because of the machines and the metal parts. We have been in this part of Vikhroli for a long while now. The society has a lot of families living nearby, so we try not to make too much noise too early in the morning, but engineering work is just like that. There are tools lying around on the benches and sometimes the floor gets a bit messy with metal scraps. It is a bit of a walk from the station, but not too far if you know the shortcuts through the buildings. We started out small and stayed that way because it is easier to manage things ourselves. Someone is usually here by nine to open up the shutters. The light in the back of the flat is not the best, so we use a lot of lamps when we are working on the smaller parts. Sometimes people get confused because it is a residential society, but once they see the sign, they find us okay. It gets really hot in the summer months, so we keep the fans running all day long. We just get on with the jobs as they come in. There is no big office or anyone sitting at a front desk, just us in the workspace handling the lathes and the drills. It works for us.
