Sona Hardware Store is sitting right at number 8, Prince Palace. If you know the turn at Khot Lane off J.V. Road, you’ve probably seen us. The shop is pretty small, honestly. We have shelves reaching all the way to the ceiling, mostly filled with boxes of nails, hinges, and tools that have been there for a bit. It smells like metal and a little bit of machine oil inside, which is just how a hardware place should be. We spend a lot of time just moving things around to make space for new stock. It’s not the most organized looking place, but we usually know where everything is kept. The light coming in from the front door is about all the brightness we get, so it stays a bit dim in the back rows. Most of the people who stop by are from the neighborhood, just looking for a specific screw or a wrench they lost. We don’t have any big displays or neon signs. Just the name over the door and a lot of heavy stuff on the floor. Sometimes the delivery trucks have a hard time getting into the lane because it’s a bit narrow, so we end up carrying boxes by hand. It’s physical work, and by the time we close up, our hands are usually pretty dirty. It’s just a regular local shop doing what it does every day.
