About Snehal Screen – Industrial Plant & Machines in Mumbai
Our workshop is tucked away in Salim Compound, which is off Shah Estate in Andheri East. We do screen printing here. It is a messy job, and there is always some ink on our hands or clothes by the end of the day. The compound is full of small businesses like ours, so it is always busy and a bit loud with people moving around. We have our frames and screens lined up against the walls in no particular order. Most of the work is for local businesses that need simple printing done on bags or shirts. We do not have a fancy office for meetings. People just come to the workshop, show us their design, and we figure out how to print it for them. Sometimes the colors do not mix exactly right on the first try, so we have to adjust and do it again until it looks okay. It gets really hot in here with the drying racks and the lack of a good breeze during the summer months. We do not use a lot of high-tech machinery; it is mostly manual work that requires a steady hand and some patience. Andheri East is a hectic place to be, but being in the compound gives us a bit of our own space to work. We have been doing this for a while, and we know the quirks of the different inks we use. It is not a glamorous business, but there is a certain satisfaction in seeing a finished print.
