Our office is over in the Nex Plaza Building on Kalbadevi Road. If you know the area, you know how crowded it gets around Vitthalwadi. We are on the second floor, tucked away from the noise of the street. It’s a busy part of town for jewelry, so there is always someone moving boxes or looking at gold nearby. Sk Jewellers Private Limited has been operating from this spot for some time. The building is a typical Mumbai commercial space, nothing too fancy, just a lot of small rooms and people working hard. We spend most of our time at our benches or talking to suppliers who come in from the main road. It gets hot in the afternoons, especially during the summer months when the breeze doesn't quite reach the second floor. We keep our tools ready and our ledgers updated. Sometimes the traffic outside makes it hard for deliveries to arrive on time, but that is just part of being in Kalbadevi. We don't have a big team, just a few of us making sure everything runs okay. Most of our neighbors are in the same trade, so we all know each other. It’s a tight space but we make it work. Every morning starts with opening the shutters and checking the inventory. It is a steady routine that keeps us grounded. We don't bother with fancy ads, we just open up and work.
