Simran Communication

Simran Communication is located at A/20 on the Sion Isanpur Road in the Narol area of Ahmedabad. It’s a hot part of town, so the front of the shop is usually open to catch any breeze that might come by. We sell a lot of SIM cards and do recharges for people who live nearby. The walls are covered with posters for data plans that are probably out of date, but they hide the peeling paint. I sit behind a small glass counter most of the day. There are always people coming in asking how to fix something on their phone or why their balance is gone. I try to help, but sometimes the technology is just confusing for everyone. We have a bunch of cheap earphones and chargers in plastic bins near the door. They sell fast because people lose them all the time. The street outside is always dusty because of the trucks, so I have to wipe down the glass every hour or so. We have a small plastic chair for friends who drop by to talk. Sometimes we share some snacks or a cold drink when the heat gets too much. It’s not a complicated business. We just provide what people need to stay connected and try to be helpful when we can. The evenings are the busiest when everyone is heading home from work and stops by for a quick top-up or a new cable.
