Shristi Tex

Shristi Tex is located in Shop No 7, over in the A Wing on the ground floor. We are right in the middle of Andheri East, specifically near Crawford Market, which is always a whirlwind of activity. If you’ve ever been near the Kamani Oil Mill, you’ll know exactly where we are because that’s the main landmark people use to find us. The shop itself is filled with rolls of fabric and textiles. There isn't much room to walk around once we get a fresh shipment in. We usually have to move stacks of cloth just to reach the back of the room where the small desk is. It smells like raw cotton and dye in here most days. The floor is old tile, and we have a big table in the center where we measure things out. The noise from Crawford Market stays pretty loud throughout the day, with vendors shouting and bikes zooming past the front door. We don’t really have any decorations on the walls, just more shelves for the inventory. Sometimes the ceiling leaks a little bit during the heavy monsoon rains, so we have to move the stock around to keep it dry. It’s a bit of a struggle to keep everything tidy when there’s so much coming in and out. Most of our time is spent just counting items and making sure the labels haven't fallen off. It's a busy, cramped, but steady kind of place to work.
