Down in Shahapur, which is part of Hatkanangle in Kolhapur, you’ll find our dyeing and bleaching unit. We are at Gat No 470, R S No 60. It’s a bit out of the way, which is good for the kind of work we do. Dyeing and bleaching takes up a lot of space and uses a lot of water, so being in this area works out well. Shri Siddhivinayak Dyeing & Bleaching LLP is a hands-on place. There are large vats and steam everywhere most of the day. The floors are usually wet and you have to be careful where you step. We don’t have a corporate office with air conditioning. We are right there on the floor with the workers. It gets very hot near the boilers, especially in the afternoon. We focus on getting the colors right and making sure the fabric is cleaned properly. It’s messy work, and our clothes are usually stained with different colors by the end of the shift. We’ve been operating here for several years and most of our neighbors are also in the textile business. We don’t bother with fancy websites or promotional talk. If the work is done, people find out about us through word of mouth. It’s a simple life, working with our hands and seeing the finished cloth come out of the dryers. We usually finish up late in the evening when the air finally cools down a little bit.
