Noble Dyers

Noble Dyers is located at G-2 in Sakinaka, on Navrangpura Cross Road. We spend our days dealing with fabrics and vats of color. The floor is usually wet and there are stains everywhere because that is just part of the dyeing process. It is a bit messy, but that’s how you know work is getting done. We have rows of clothes or fabric hanging up to dry. Sakinaka is always crowded, so there is a lot of noise coming in from Navrangpura Cross Road. We have been here for a bit and people know us for the work we do. We don’t use any complicated machines, mostly just traditional ways of getting the color into the cloth. It takes a lot of patience to get it right. Sometimes the steam makes the room very humid, especially during the monsoon. We just wear our old clothes and get on with the mixing. It’s interesting to see how the different dyes react. We don't talk much while we work; we just focus on the tubs and the timing. It is a simple business, really. We take in the plain material and it goes out a different color. People around here appreciate that we just do our job without making a big fuss about it. The shop isn’t huge, but it’s enough space for us to handle the daily orders.
