Shri Siddeshwar Hotel

Shri Siddeshwar Hotel is right by Crawford Market on the Unkal Sainagar Road. If you know the area, you know how loud and crowded it gets. There are people selling everything under the sun just outside our doors. We wake up early to get things going because the market doesn’t wait for anyone. The floor is usually a bit damp from the morning cleaning and the air smells like wet pavement and old stone. We’ve got a few tables that have been here since we started. They aren’t perfectly level but they do the job. We don’t have a website or any of that fancy stuff. Most people just walk in because they are tired from shopping and need a place to sit for a minute. The fans on the ceiling hum constantly to keep the heat away, but it’s still Mumbai, so it’s always a bit warm. My nephew helps out with the dishes and the heavy lifting. We don’t have a boss in a suit telling us what to do. We just know what needs to be done. The road outside is always torn up for some pipe work or another. It’s just how it is around Crawford Market. We’ve seen a lot of people come and go over the years. Some are regulars and some we never see again. It’s just a plain old hotel on a busy road.
