Shri Sai Moorti Art

The workshop for Shri Sai Moorti Art is at Shop No 4 in Irani Colony. If you are walking down the 2nd Main Road in Mulund Goregaon East, you will find us right oppsite Pandurang Wadi. There is usually a layer of fine white dust over everything because of the work we do. I wake up thinking about the clay and the stone we have to shape that day. It is a quiet kind of work, but my hands are always tired by the evening. The 2nd Main Road is usually packed with cars and people going to work, but inside the shop, it feels a bit different. We have been here at Shri Sai Moorti Art for a while, and the locals know us as the place where the statues come from. Sometimes the monsoon rain splashes through the front door, and we have to move everything back quickly. It’s not a polished showroom like you see in the malls. It’s a real workshop with tools lying around and half-finished pieces sitting in the corners. I usually sit on a small stool near the front so I can see the street while I work. My back hurts sometimes from leaning over the small details, but that’s just part of the job. Being in Irani Colony is good because it’s a familiar neighborhood. We know the neighbors and the shopkeepers nearby. People just see the work we are doing when they walk past Pandurang Wadi and stop to look at what's new.
