Shree Swami Samarth Hall

The hall is right there in Mulund East, just opposite the railway station. It’s handy because people don’t have to walk far when they get off the train. We spend a lot of time moving chairs around. One day it’s a small meeting, the next day it’s someone’s birthday. Shree Swami Samarth Hall isn't a huge fancy place with carpets and stuff. It’s just a clean space with decent lights. I’m usually the one who opens the big doors in the morning. Sometimes the station announcements are so loud we have to close the windows. We get people from all over this side of Mumbai. My cousin helps me with the bookings on a big ledger book we keep in the drawer. It’s mostly pencil marks and scratched out dates. Cleaning up is the hardest part. People leave all sorts of things behind after a function. Last week I found a whole bag of marigolds. The fan in the corner makes a little clicking noise but it works fine. It’s a bit of a rush during the wedding season but otherwise, it’s just us waiting for the next phone call. We’ve been here for years so the regulars know where the key is kept. It’s just a simple place for the neighborhood to use. Nothing fancy. We don't have a website or anything, just the sign out front and the phone. It seems to work out for us.
