Shree Mathura Hotel

Shree Mathura Hotel is at 96 Adishree Dadri Street, right on V.P. Road in the Charni Road area of Mumbai. If you know the neighborhood, we are quite close to C.P. Tank. It is one of those parts of the city that always feels packed, no matter what time it is. The street outside is narrow and there are always scooters and handcarts going by. Inside, the walls are plain and we have basic tables and chairs that have seen a lot of use over the years. We open up early because the workers in the market nearby need their tea and something to eat before they start their heavy lifting. It’s not the kind of place where you sit for hours. People come in, eat quickly, pay their bill, and head back out into the heat. We don't have a big staff, just a few of us running around trying to keep the tables clear. Sometimes the floor gets a bit dusty from the street outside, but we try to sweep it when there is a quiet moment. It’s a regular Mumbai hotel, the kind you find on every corner, serving the local crowd. We see the same faces every morning and evening, which makes the work feel a bit more personal. The noise from the traffic never really stops, but after a while, you just stop noticing it and focus on the kitchen.
