If you go to Ghatkopar East and look for the Tempo Association Building, that’s where we are. Shree Kanteshwara Tempo Service is right there, near the Shree Ganesh Mandir. Being in the association building means we are surrounded by others in the same line of work. It’s a very practical environment. We have our tempos parked nearby, ready for when someone needs to move furniture or boxes. The area around the temple is always lively, and there is a lot of foot traffic. Our daily routine involves taking calls and assigning drivers to different jobs across the city. It’s a lot of physical work, even the part where we sit in the office and manage the bookings. The building is a bit older, and the hallways are usually busy with people coming in and out. We don’t have a website or anything like that; we just rely on being here and doing the work. Sometimes it’s a small move across the street, and other times it’s a big load going to the other side of Mumbai. We just take it as it comes. The sun can be quite harsh out on the lot while we are loading up, but the work has to get done regardless of the weather. It’s a straightforward transport business with no frills. We spend a lot of time checking tires and making sure the fuel tanks are full before a long trip.
