Golden Rose

Golden Rose is tucked away in Shop No. 5 of Avabai Mansion, which is right on Henry Road in Colaba. If you know Mumbai, you know where Electric House is—well, we are just opposite that. It’s a great old building with a lot of history to it. Being in Colaba, things are always moving fast. There are tourists, office goers, and locals all mixing together on the sidewalk. Our shop is small but we use every bit of space we have. We’ve been here for quite some time, and we’ve seen the neighborhood change quite a bit, but Avabai Mansion stays the same. We try to keep our shop looking decent, but it’s a working shop, so there’s usually something being moved or reorganized. We don’t use any high-pressure sales tactics. We just let people come in and look around at their own pace. Sometimes we’re busy with a lot of people at once, and other times it’s just us and the radio. We like being near the sea and having the energy of South Mumbai right outside our door. It’s a bit cramped inside sometimes, especially when we get new stock in, but we make it work. Most of our customers are regulars who have been coming to us for years. We just keep doing what we’ve always done, right here on Henry Road. It’s a good spot to be in, and we hope to stay here for many more years. It's our little corner of the city.
