Shivas Industries

Working out of the Kakad Industrial area on Senapati Bapat Marg means dealing with a lot of noise every day. Shivas Industries is tucked into Office No 26. It’s an old building in Mahim and it has that heavy industrial feel where you can always hear the machines from the other units through the walls. We spend our time checking orders and making sure the supplies are moving out on time. The hallways are usually stacked with wooden crates and people are always rushing somewhere. Our office isn't very large. We have a couple of desks pushed against the side wall and a lot of filing cabinets that are usually overflowing. It gets quite warm in the afternoons when the sun hits the side of the building directly. We just keep the old ceiling fan going and stay busy. The paperwork is constant. We spend hours on the phone talking to suppliers or trying to track down where a shipment ended up. It’s not the kind of place you’d ever come for a tour. It’s just where we do the work. The floor is made of concrete and has some oil stains from who knows when. Sometimes the elevator in the building acts up, so we end up taking the stairs, which is a bit of a workout. There’s a guy who sells snacks right outside the main gate, and that’s usually where we get our lunch most days. It’s a functional space for us.
