Shivam C. Mahendra Beads

Bhuleshwar is a very crowded place to work, but it is where we are. Our shop is at 5/7 3rd Bhoiwada, right across from the Dena Bank. If you have been to this part of Mumbai, you know how packed the lanes get with people and carts. We are A. K Enterprise, but everyone just knows us as Shivam C. Mahendra Beads. We have boxes and boxes of beads stacked up to the ceiling in every corner. Tiny glass ones, plastic ones, and some heavier ones made of stone too. It is a lot of counting and sorting. My eyes get tired by the end of the day from looking at all the small details and colors. We get all kinds of people coming in, from ladies making jewelry at home to people buying in bulk for bigger projects. The tea man comes by every hour and that is usually when we take a quick break on the front step. The shop is narrow, so we have to be careful when we move around so we don't knock any jars over. It is noisy outside with the carts and the people shouting, but inside we just focus on the orders. We have been here a long time and seen the bank across the street change a lot. The beads don't change much though. They are just the same as they have always been. It is a bit of a squeeze, but it is home.
