Sharma Transports

We run Sharma Transports out of Shop No 6 in Bhabha Chawl. It is right there on Dattapada Road, not too far from Harkisandas Hospital. It’s a gritty part of Charni Road, but it works for what we do. Moving things from one place to another involves a lot of phone calls and making sure the drivers are where they need to be. Our office is small, just enough space for a desk and some chairs. There is always someone coming in or out, asking about a delivery or a pickup. We deal with all sorts of goods, whatever people need moved across the city or further out. It is a bit chaotic sometimes, especially when the traffic near the hospital gets backed up, which happens almost every afternoon. We don’t have a fleet of brand new shiny trucks, but the ones we have are reliable and they get the work done. Life in a chawl business is busy and there isn't much time for sitting around. My phone rings at all hours because transport doesn't really stop. We’ve been in this spot for years and the neighbors know us well. It is a tough business with a lot of moving parts, but we have figured out how to make it work. We just take it one load at a time and try to keep things moving as best as we can. Every day brings a different challenge on the road, but that's transport.
