Shantaba Sabhagriha

Shantaba Sabhagriha is a community hall located in Ashok Nagar, over in Kandivali East. We are situated at Survey No 106/2, which is right opposite Damodar Wadi. This place has been used for all sorts of local things over the years, from small family functions to neighborhood meetings. It is a basic hall that we try to keep in good shape for whoever needs to use it. Managing a sabhagriha means you are always dealing with things like broken chairs or light bulbs that need changing. We spend a lot of time on the phone talking to people about dates and times for their events. The area of Ashok Chakravorty is usually quite lively, and being across from Damodar Wadi makes us easy to find for people who live around here. We don't have a corporate office, it's just the staff here at the hall who handle everything from sweeping the floors to making sure the entrance is clear. It’s a practical space and we don't try to make it seem like something it isn't. People like it because it’s familiar and it’s right there in their own neighborhood. We’ve seen many generations of families come through these doors for different reasons. The work isn't always easy, especially during the rainy season or when multiple events are scheduled close together, but we just keep at it and make sure the hall is ready for the next person.
