Shailesh & Company

You can find us over at Shop No 444 on Gopalak Lane. It is one of those narrow spots near Zaveri Bazar where you really have to watch where you are walking. Kalbadevi is a maze on a good day. We have been working out of this space for quite a while now. It isn't a big office with a reception desk or anything. It's just a practical room where we handle everything for Shailesh & Company. Most of our days are spent on the phone or checking through ledgers. The noise from the lane outside is constant. You hear the handcarts scraping the ground and people bargaining for things just a few feet away. We keep the door open mostly to let some air in, even if it brings in the dust. Sometimes we grab a chai from the guy down the street when things get too hectic. The shop doesn't look like much from the outside, but we know where everything is. It’s a bit of a mess sometimes with all the files, but it’s our mess. We don’t have any fancy mission statements. We just show up, do the work that needs doing, and try to stay organized. It’s a bit of a squeeze when more than two people are in here at once, but we make it work. That is just how life is in this part of town.
