Metro Impex

This branch of Metro Impex is located at Shahid House, right on P. D. Mello Road. If you know the area, it's very close to the docks. That’s why we’re here, really. It makes sense for an import-export business to be near the port. The traffic on this road is always heavy with trucks and containers. Our office is at number 2. It's a practical spot for us. We spend a lot of time dealing with customs and transport people. It’s a lot of manual work and checking lists. We don’t really do fancy presentations or anything like that. We just make sure the goods move from the ship to the warehouse or the other way around. The air smells like the sea and diesel around here. It’s not the cleanest part of town, but it’s where the work happens. We've been operating out of this small space for quite some time. The walls could probably use a new coat of paint, but we're usually too busy to care about that. It’s a straightforward operation. We handle the documents and the logistics. Sometimes things get delayed, and we have to spend the whole day on the phone. That’s just the nature of the business. You hear the constant honking of the trucks all day long. It's just the background noise we've gotten used to over the years. We share the building with a few other small businesses, so there's always someone moving crates in the hallway. It’s a bit gritty, but it’s home.
