Haute Couture

Our workshop is at 105 Navnidhi Industrial Estate on A. D. Marg in Sewree West. It’s a busy industrial area, so there are always trucks moving and people working in the nearby units. We do a lot of sewing and garment work here. It’s a big open space with rows of sewing machines and large tables for cutting fabric. The floor is usually covered in little bits of thread and cloth scraps by the end of the day. We don’t have a fancy showroom or anything like that because most of our work is done for other people. It gets quite loud with all the machines going, and in the summer, it can get pretty warm inside, even with the windows open. We’ve been in this unit for a long time, and the building has seen better days, but it works for us. The people working here are like a little family; we’ve all been doing this for years. We don't use any fancy marketing. We just focus on the stitching and making sure the garments look like they’re supposed to. Sewree is a gritty part of town, but it’s honest work, and we like being part of the industrial estate. There’s always someone around if you need to borrow a tool or get some help moving something heavy. We usually start our day pretty early to beat the heat, and we finish up once the last pile of clothes is finished. It’s a simple way to make a living and we don't mind the noise.
