Sarita Lawns

Andheri West is always moving at a fast pace, but Sarita Lawns is a bit of a different story. We are located right by the Good Shepherd Convent and next to the Shepherd Church on P B Marg. It is basically a patch of green grass in a very busy and crowded part of Mumbai. Managing a lawn like this is mostly a battle with the weather. If it rains too hard during the monsoon, we have a muddy mess to deal with. If it gets too hot in the summer, the grass starts turning brown despite our efforts. We spend a lot of our time out there with hoses and lawnmowers trying to keep the place looking decent for the next group. It is not a perfect botanical garden, but it is a good open space for the people in Gulshanabad. Being so close to the church means we hear the bells and the choir practicing quite often. Our front gates are old and they creak a bit when you open them. We do not have a big office or a fancy reception area. Most of our work is done outside under the sun. People come here when they need a bit of space, which is a hard thing to find in Mumbai. We have to deal with the constant noise from the street traffic on P B Marg. It is just a local lawn that has been part of the neighborhood for a long time. (258 words)
