Our office is in Louis Creado House, which is Office No 4. We’re right in Andheri East, very close to the International Air Cargo Complex. Being this close to the airport means we hear planes taking off all day long. It’s a heavy, industrial kind of sound that vibrates the windows sometimes. The building itself is an older one, with those narrow stairs and heavy wooden doors. Inside, it’s mostly just desks covered in shipping forms and logbooks. We spend a lot of time on the phone or staring at computer screens. The air cargo area is always a mess of trucks and people in a hurry, so our little office feels like a bit of a hideout. We’ve had the same furniture for years because it still holds up. Sometimes the tea man comes by with cutting chai, and that’s the highlight of the afternoon. We don’t try to be anything we’re not. It’s a shipping agency, so it’s about logistics and staying on top of the paperwork. There are no fancy lounges or high-tech displays here. Just a few of us working through the piles of folders every day. It gets hot in the afternoons, but we keep the windows open to catch whatever breeze comes off the road. It’s a gritty, busy part of Mumbai, and we’ve been part of it for a long time now.
