Sangam Umbrella Mart

You can find us at 57/b on New Hanuman Lane, which is off Kalbadevi Road. It is a very crowded area with lots of narrow lanes. Sangam Umbrella Mart has been here for a long time. As you can guess, we sell umbrellas. We have all sizes, from small ones for kids to big ones for stalls. The shop is quite small, so we have umbrellas hanging from the ceiling too. Kalbadevi is always full of people, so it gets noisy. During the monsoon, we are very busy. Everyone comes in looking for something to keep the rain off. The rest of the year, we still sell a few, but it’s much quieter. We also do some repairs if a handle breaks or a wire pops out. We don't have a fancy computer system. Everything is written down in a big ledger book. My father and I run the shop together. We know most of the other shopkeepers on New Hanuman Lane. We aren't looking to expand or open more branches. One shop is enough work for us. We just try to have enough stock before the rains start. It’s a simple business. We don't use any marketing tricks. We just sit here and wait for customers. That is our daily life. It gets a bit hot in the shop, but we have a small fan that helps.
