Sakun Gems

Our little shop is over at 217-B in the Opera House area, right by the 5th Main Road. If you know this part of town, you know it’s the heart of the gem trade. Sakun Gems has been operating from this same spot for quite a long time. It’s a small space, mostly filled with cabinets and little scales for weighing stones. It’s usually a bit cramped when a few people are inside at once. We spend our days looking at different stones and talking to regular customers who have been coming to us for years. It’s a very specific kind of work and it requires a lot of patience. Sometimes the lighting in the room isn't perfect, but we know where everything is. The area outside is always noisy with couriers and other traders running around. We don't have a big display window like the shops in the malls. Most people find us through word of mouth or because they’ve been in the trade for a while. We keep things pretty quiet and just focus on the stones we have in front of us. It’s a steady way of living. We don’t bother with much advertising because the work usually takes up all our time anyway. It’s just a plain, honest business in a very busy part of the city. We open up every morning, check the inventory, and see what the day brings until it's time to close up.
