Safeline Clearing Forwarding Agency is based over in Masjid Bunder West. We are on the third floor of the building, in Room No 9. It’s the one near Modi Cha Masjid and the Cosmos Bank on D L Marg. The whole Kalachowki area is always packed with people moving goods back and forth. Our office is tucked away in Bhait Chawl. It’s a small room filled with tall stacks of shipping documents and old ledgers that have been around for years. We spend most of our time on the phone or filling out forms for customs clearing. There isn’t much room to move around in here because of all the files. The lift in the building is a bit temperamental, so we end up taking the stairs a lot. It’s hard work, especially when the weather is humid and the office gets stuffy. We’ve been doing this for a long time and we know the ins and outs of the docks. We don't have any fancy decorations on the walls, just a calendar and maybe an old map. It’s a busy spot and we’re usually rushing to meet deadlines for shipments. Sometimes the tea guy forgets our order because we’re so busy arguing with people on the phone. We just focus on getting the cargo forwarded to where it needs to go. It’s a straightforward operation. We don’t bother with big mission statements. We just show up and handle the paperwork every single day.
