We are based at 23 Fort, in Sai Niwas. Being near the Yellow Gate is handy because of all the port activity nearby. S R Shipping Agency has been operating from this spot for quite a while. It’s a small office, mostly filled with paperwork and files. Shipping is a lot of logistics and waiting, so we spend a lot of time on the phone or checking schedules. We don't have a fancy corporate office with a receptionist. It’s just us handling the documents and making sure things get where they need to go. The area around Fort is always busy with trucks and traders. We fit right in. We don't try to be anything more than a reliable local agency. There’s a lot of rules and customs stuff to deal with, but we’ve learned how to navigate it over the years. We aren't interested in being the biggest agency in India. We just want to do our job for the people who hire us. It’s a bit of an old-school way of doing things, maybe, but it works. The office has seen better days, but it’s a good place to work. We know the people at the gate and the other businesses around here. It’s a tight-knit community. We stay busy, and there’s always a new shipment to track or a form to file. We like the rhythm of the port and the people who work here. It’s a steady business.
