Our place is in unit 130 of the Shanta Industrial Estate on I. B. Patel Road. If you know Goregaon East, you know how busy this area gets with all the trucks and small workshops. It can be quite loud during the day because of the neighboring units, but we are used to the noise. We spend most of our time packing boxes and checking invoices on the old desk near the window. The stairs up to the unit are a bit steep, so we always tell the delivery boys to be careful. It’s an industrial space, so don't expect anything shiny or modern. We have racks reaching up to the ceiling filled with surgical supplies and medical goods. Dust is a constant battle because of the road construction nearby, so we are always wiping down the boxes. We usually start our day early to beat the worst of the traffic on the highway. Lunch is usually something quick brought from home, eaten while we wait for the afternoon courier to arrive. Sometimes the power goes out for a bit, which is annoying when we are trying to print labels. We don't have a big team, just a few of us who know where everything is kept. It’s a lot of physical work, moving crates and organizing the inventory, but it keeps us busy. We stay until the last order is out the door and the shutters are down for the night.
