S Kolhapure Beauty Institute

The institute is over in Santacruz East, right along the Western Express Highway at number 10. It’s a busy location because the highway is always full of cars and noise. We have our space inside the building where we teach beauty work. It’s mostly rooms with big mirrors and chairs where the students can practice. We have shelves filled with different bottles, combs, and hair stuff. I spend my time checking on the classes and making sure we have enough supplies for everyone. The floor is usually covered in hair or bits of cotton, so we are constantly sweeping up. It gets quite bright in the afternoons when the sun hits the windows. We have a small area near the door where people can wait, but it’s usually just students coming in and out. Being in Santacruz East means it’s easy for people to get to us by bus or train, even if the traffic on the highway is a mess. We don't have anything too fancy, just the tools and the space needed to learn the trade. Sometimes it’s a bit chaotic when several classes are going on at once. We keep the water cooler filled and the fans running high to keep the air moving. It’s a busy life but we’ve been here at this spot for a long time. People know us by the name on the board outside. It’s just regular work for us every day.
