We spend most of our days here in Kurla West at the shop on Tindlu Main Road. It’s a busy spot and there’s always something happening with mobile phones. We started this place because people kept asking where they could learn to fix their own devices instead of just paying someone else to do it. Most of the time, the room is full of screens, tiny screwdrivers, and soldering irons. It’s not a fancy office, just a practical space where we show students how to take things apart and put them back together. Sometimes the fans are noisy and the street outside is loud, but we get the work done regardless. People come from all different parts of the city to sit at these benches and learn. We deal with all sorts of hardware issues and software glitches every day. It’s a lot of hands-on stuff, not just sitting and reading books. We keep our tools organized as much as we can, though it gets a bit messy when we have a lot of repairs going on at once. If you walk past C/15, you’ll probably see a few of us hunched over a circuit board under a bright light. We’ve been at this for a while now and the daily routine stays pretty much the same. We open up, check the power supply, and start the lessons. It’s just honest work teaching a skill that everyone seems to need these days because nobody wants to be without their phone.
