S.K. Instrument Enclosures

Our workshop, S.K. Instrument Enclosures, is tucked away in Gala No 2 of the Adake Compound. If you know Shambhaji Chowk in Surya Nagar, you probably know where we are, right behind the Shanti Nursing Home in Vikhroli West. It is a bit of a tight squeeze sometimes with all the metal sheets and the boxes lying around, but we make it work. We spend most of our hours cutting and folding these enclosures for different instruments. It is dusty work, and the fans never seem to be fast enough in the summer heat. My brother and a couple of guys from the neighborhood handle the heavy lifting. We have been in this spot for years, and the neighbors at the nursing home probably recognize the sound of our hammers by now. We don't have a big front office or a receptionist. If someone needs us, they just walk into the gala and talk to whoever is nearest the door. We handle orders as they come, sometimes they are small and sometimes they take up the whole floor for a week. Vikhroli is a good place to be because the transport is easy, even if the traffic near the chowk gets messy in the evenings. We just keep our heads down and focus on what is on the workbench today. It is simple work, but it keeps us busy from morning until the shutters go down at night. Most of what we do is just steady, honest manual labor for people who need parts made.
