The Yashwant Shopping Centre isn't like the new malls. It’s an older building on Road Number 7. We are in units 119 and 120. Adis Gauges & Tools Manufacturing Co. has been in this spot for a long time. The air in here is a mix of cool metal and the grease we use to keep things from rusting. We have these workbenches that are worn down from years of use. There are calipers and micrometers sitting on felt pads everywhere. It’s quiet work, mostly. You have to be patient when you are grinding metal or checking a gauge against a master block. If you look out the window, you see the busy street, but inside, we are focused on these tiny measurements. Sometimes the light isn't great, so we have those adjustable lamps clamped to every table. We get a lot of guys from the nearby workshops coming in to ask about specific tools. We keep our inventory in those old wooden drawers with the handwritten labels. It’s a bit cluttered, but we know where every single piece is. We don't have fancy computer systems for everything; we still use a lot of paper notebooks to keep track of what we are making. It’s a steady pace. We start early when it’s still cool and work until the shops in the center start closing their shutters. It’s just how the days go by here on Road Number 7.
