You can find S. Dhawan & Sons over at 118 in the Champaklal Industrial Estate. Sion (E) is a good place to be if you need to be near the transport links for the trucks. We are a family setup. My sons are learning the ropes now, though they complain about the heat in the workshop during the summer months. We mostly deal with mechanical parts and assembly. The floor is usually a bit oily and there is always a radio playing somewhere in the background, usually some old songs. We don't have a fancy showroom for people to walk through. If you want to see what we do, you just come into the back where the machines are running. We started with just one lathe and grew slowly over the decades. We aren't looking to become a massive corporation; we just want to do good work for the people who hire us to fix or make things. The tea guy comes around twice a day, and that’s when we usually take a breather and talk for a few minutes. It’s an old building, so the walls have some cracks and the windows are a bit grimy from the city air. But the machines are kept in good shape, which is what matters at the end of the day. We deal with a lot of local clients who have been coming to us since my father’s time. It’s about being steady and showing up every morning at eight to get the day started.
