S B Shipping Agency is based on the third floor of Building No 82/84 in Masjid Bunder West. We are quite close to the Satkar Hotel. This whole area is always packed with people and carts moving goods to the port. Our office is in an old building, and the stairs up to the third floor can be a bit of a climb. It is not a modern office building with elevators and glass doors. Inside, it is mostly shelves full of files and a few desks with computers. We spend our time talking to customs people and coordinating with cargo ships. It is a lot of paperwork and phone calls. Sometimes the noise from the street below is so loud we have to shout to be heard. We have been working here for a long time and we know the rhythms of the docks. We aren't a big, fancy agency. We just do the shipping work that we know how to do. Lunch is usually a quick meal from one of the local places nearby. We have a couple of ceiling fans that have been running for years. We don't have any big mission statements or promotional posters. We just show up every morning, handle the documents, and try to make sure everything goes through correctly. It is a busy, honest life in the heart of the city.
