RUPINDRA INDUSTRIES

You will find us right near the Subhash Lane end in Malad East, just across from the Elephanta Building. It is a crowded spot, especially being so close to the Diamond Market. RUPINDRA INDUSTRIES has been tucked away in this Sardar Chawl space for a while now. It is a bit noisy around here with all the traffic and people moving about, but we are used to the sound of the city. We open up early because the heat gets bad later in the day and the workshop gets stuffy. There is not much room for a desk, so we usually just work standing up or sitting on stools. My father started this and now we just carry it on. We don't do much advertising, mostly just people who know us or walk by and see what we are doing. It is hard work, some days are long and the tea guy comes by three times before we are even halfway done. The lane gets narrow when the delivery trucks try to squeeze in, and we often have to help them move things around. It is not a shiny place, just a workspace with a lot of history and old tools. We make sure to lock up tight every evening before the commute back home. It is a busy life in Malad, but it is what we know. We just keep our heads down and work.
