Our office is on the fourth floor of Kailandas Udyog Bhavan. It’s an old building in Prabhadevi, not too far from Century Bazar. Most mornings, we just get in, open the windows, and try to get the fans going before the humidity hits. Rumit Chemisynth has been operating out of this spot for a long time now. We handle various chemical products, mostly synthetic stuff that other industries need for their own processes. It’s not a very big team here, just a few of us sitting at desks piled with folders and sample bottles. We spend a lot of time on the phone with suppliers or checking on shipments that are coming through the docks or local warehouses. The stairs in this building can be a bit of a climb if the lift is acting up, which happens sometimes. Lunch usually means someone goes out to get snacks from the vendors near the main road. We don't have fancy meeting rooms or anything like that. People just drop by, we offer them some tea, and we talk about whatever order needs to be filled. It’s a busy area with a lot of other small businesses around us, so there’s always noise from the street. We just keep our heads down and do what needs to be done. The paperwork never seems to end, especially with the chemical regulations and logistics we have to track every single day. We've got used to the rhythm of this neighborhood over the years.
