Down here at 183 Jodia Mansion, things are always a bit loud because of the presses. G K Marg can be a real pain to navigate during rush hour, but we’ve been here in Lower Parel long enough to know the shortcuts. The shop is filled with the smell of paper and that specific ink scent that never really leaves your clothes. We handle all sorts of jobs, from small stacks of cards to bigger things people need for their businesses. Most of the time, the machines are running from morning until late evening. It's a bit cramped inside with all the paper stock piled up, but we know where everything is. Sometimes the older machines act up and we have to spend an afternoon fixing a part, which is just part of the deal when you work in printing. People come in with all kinds of requests, some very last minute, which keeps us on our toes. We don’t have any fancy reception area or anything like that. You just walk in and talk to whoever isn't busy with a machine. It’s a hands-on kind of place. The floor is usually covered in paper scraps by the end of the shift. We just focus on getting the colors right and making sure the edges are cut straight. It’s what we’ve always done. Lower Parel has become so modern lately, but our corner of Jodia Mansion feels pretty much the same as always.
