Being tucked away in Pushpachandra Apartment on S.V. Road means it is always noisy outside. Riddhi Vinayak Critical Care And Cardiac Centre is right in the middle of Malad West, so there is never a dull moment. We are near N. L. High School, so every morning we hear the kids shouting and the bells ringing for class. The lane near the Riddhi Vinayak Temple can get pretty cramped with people walking to pray, especially on Tuesdays. Inside the center, things are a bit quieter, though the machines make their own steady beeping sounds. We spend our time checking hearts and keeping an eye on the monitors in the critical care area. It is a lot of looking at charts and talking to family members in the hallway. The apartment building itself is older, but we keep our section clean. We don't have much of a lobby, just some plastic chairs and a small desk where we handle the paperwork. Getting to work through the Malad traffic is always a struggle, but once we are here, we stay busy until the shift ends. Sometimes the smell of incense from the temple lane drifts in through the windows if the wind is right. We just keep our heads down and do the work that needs doing every day in this busy part of the city. We have been in this spot for a long time and the neighborhood knows us well.
