Record Shoppe

We have been running the Record Shoppe at Matunga on Lakhamsi Nappu Road for quite a long time now. We are actually spread across units 93 and 94, which gives us a bit more room to keep all the music we have collected. It is a bit of a squeeze inside because we have so many records and tapes piled up. People who still like the old sound come in to browse through the stacks for hours. We don't have everything organized perfectly, so you might find something unexpected if you look long enough. It’s a quiet spot compared to the main road, but we get our regulars who know exactly what they are looking for. Some of the stuff is quite old and the covers are a bit worn out, but the music is still good. We don't have any fancy listening stations or anything like that, just the records and a simple player to check them. The shelves are wooden and a bit creaky, and there is always a bit of a paper smell from all the old sleeves. We try to keep track of what we have, but sometimes things get misplaced. It is just a hobby that turned into a business a long time ago. We like being in Matunga; it has a nice feel to it and the people are generally friendly. We hope to keep the shop going for many more years as long as people still want to hear the old songs on original vinyl.
