Ramdev Mobile Centre

Over in Chembur, at the 14th Cross 2nd Block, you’ll find Ramdev Mobile Centre. It’s a small shop, squeezed between a tailor and a small eatery. We’ve got a display case full of second-hand phones that we’ve cleaned up as best we can. A lot of people come in looking for a cheap replacement because they lost theirs or it broke beyond repair. We also do a lot of screen guards and those colorful silicone cases that everyone seems to want. The back of the shop is where we do the actual work, with a small table and a few basic tools. It gets a bit cramped when there are more than two customers inside at once. We have a calendar on the wall with some gods' pictures on it, and we light an incense stick every morning when we open up. The 2nd Block is a busy area, so there’s always someone popping their head in to ask for a price or to see if we can fix a charging port. Sometimes the parts take a long time to arrive from the wholesaler, and we have to tell people to come back the next day. We don't use any fancy computer systems for our sales, just a small notebook where we write everything down by hand. It’s a straightforward way of doing things. We just try to get through the pile of phones that need fixing and keep the place running day by day.
