We are located at Shop Number 106 on Chakla Street, right in the heart of Masjid Bunder West. Being next to the Bombay Mercantile Co-operative Bank Head Office makes it easier for people to find us, but this area is always a bit of a chaotic mess. If you’ve ever been to Masjid Bunder, you know how it is—handcarts, people carrying loads on their heads, and constant shouting. Our shop is small and packed with whatever we are dealing with at the time. It’s an old building and the walls have seen a lot of years. We don't have fancy interiors; we have shelves that are full and a counter that has been used for decades. The noise from the street never really stops until very late at night. We spend our mornings opening up the shutters and dusting off the front before the first customers arrive. It’s a lot of manual work, checking stock and writing out bills by hand. We know the other merchants on the street well, and we often share a cup of tea while talking about the market prices. It’s a tough place to work because of the heat and the crowds, but it’s where the business happens. We don't pretend to be anything we aren't. We are just a part of the daily grind in one of the busiest trading hubs in the city. Every day is a bit different, but the work remains the same.
