Our workspace is Flat No 105 in the Parle Abhishek building in Vile Parle West. We are on Maulana Azad Road, right opposite Saint Xavier's Church. It used to be a regular residential flat, but now it is full of canvases, brushes, and tubes of paint. There is not much furniture left besides a few easels and a couple of stools. We spend our days working on different art pieces or framing things that people bring in. The light coming through the windows is pretty good in the morning, which helps when we are trying to mix the right colors. It is often a bit messy with paint splatters on the floor and old rags laying around. Sometimes the church bells ring and it reminds us how long we have been sitting in the same spot. We do not have a gallery with white walls and soft lights. People just come by the flat to see what we are currently working on or to pick up an order. It is a quiet kind of life, mostly just focused on the work at hand. We have lived and worked in this area for a long time, so we know most of the people who walk past the building. It is a comfortable setup for us and we do not really feel the need for a bigger or fancier studio.
