Rajak Transport

Our spot is at Gala Number 13 in the complex near the telephone exchange. Malad West is a hectic place for a transport business because of all the narrow streets, but we’ve been here on S V R long enough to know the shortcuts. The office is pretty basic—just a desk, a phone, and some logs of where the trucks are. It’s usually a bit noisy with the vehicles moving in and out of the yard. We spend a lot of time talking to drivers and making sure the loads are ready to move. Sometimes there are delays with the traffic or at the checkpoints, so we end up sitting around the phone waiting for updates. It’s not a clean-shirt kind of job. There’s always a bit of grease or dust around. We don't have a big marketing department or anything. People just call us when they need something moved. We have a small tea break in the afternoon when the main rush is over. The gala itself is a bit old, and we’ve had to fix the door a couple of times. It’s just how it is when you’re running a practical business. We keep the ledger updated by hand mostly. It’s a lot of long hours, but we like the work and the people we deal with every day. It's nothing fancy, just a group of us keeping things moving on the road. We don't worry about corporate image; we just worry about getting the cargo delivered on time. It is a simple life for us here.
